The Last of Us Part II – Release Date Reveal Trailer

It’s been a while since we heard too much about The Last of Us part II, but rest assured that Naughty Dog has been plugging away full steam on what promises to be a second epic installment. So, today (9/24/19) they announced that the game will be available next year on February 21, 2020 and we got this juicy new cinematic trailer:

Ellie has grown up, and is making choices of her own, plus, after some degree of absence, we’re reminded that that Joel still has her back too. Looks gorgeous, creepy, and hyper violent.

Any which way – can’t wait!

TLOU being hands down the best story based video game of all time and a personal favorite of mine means this is right up there as my most eagerly awaited announced game.

Halloween and today’s Sony announcements bring us more The Last of Us part II tease:

Definitely going for some seriously disturbing Walking Dead style violence. Although the clinician in me must make the observation that if you were hung twice by the neck by your body weight and you did manage to survive, you’d almost certainly have a crushed trachea for your trouble.

Game of Thrones Season 4 Trailer

It begins, the Game of Thrones season 4 trailer (January 12, 2014) is here and it looks pretty badass as usual.

All our favorites are pictured, although with some (like Theon), we can only guess what parts of which book they’ll be borrowing from. And some new characters too, like Oberyn the Red Viper (who’s crazy dancing combat style looks pretty awesome). If you know the books there are a lot of spoilers, but I guess viewers either do or don’t. They are borrowing a bit from the madman style too, where you mostly see who’s talking and not who to.

Can’t wait, as GOT season is my favorite season.

Untimed Book Trailer

This awesome Trailer for Untimed was made for me by The Other House, a LA based firm specializing in book trailers. They’re one of the few houses with consistently classy output. I went with an animation style because I’m bothered by live action or straight up photography (in a book context). Maybe it’s because I grew up in the 70s and 80s when only cheesy Tie-In novels had photos on the cover, who knows?

In any case, I also had to keep my trailer short (mostly for budget reasons) and so it was also an interesting exercise to squeeze the basic concept into about 15 seconds of storytelling.

Let me know how we did! And make sure to watch it in 720p!

The Last of Us – E3 Gameplay Coverage

E3 (the Electronic Entertainment Expo) has bought us an extensive new gameplay coverage video for Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic survival game, The Last of Us. Aside from the recently released Diablo III, this is my most anticipated upcoming game, and I suspect I’m not alone.

Game of Thrones – Price for our Sins

Just 2 weeks from Season 2, HBO has released more trailer goodness (3/18/12). This is one of the best yet, featuring all sorts of footage from the new season, and cut into a more comprehensible story arc.

Game of Thrones – Season 2 Trailer

HBO just released a new trailer for Game of Thrones Season 2. This one finally contains a good bit of footage from the new season itself, so check it out.

I like the narration by Varys. He’s one of my favorite actors from the first season and he has such a deliciously cynical perspective. They even got his voice right. It’s a little known fact that one of the side effects of losing the family jewels before puberty (Varys is a eunuch) is that the voice never drops and so remains high and soft. This was frequently noted by historians in antiquity.

The producers also clearly play up Tryrion/Peter Dinklage, no surprise considering his well deserved Emmy win. But then again, A Clash of Kings (which season 2 is based on) is Tyrion’s book. He totally owns it.
